I don’t know what has happened to either agents or people selling their house. While searching for a house for my clients last week, out of the 20 or so places I went to look at, I would say only 3 were staged properly, and the rest were a mess and a disaster. While sometimes, you cannot do anything if there are tenants living there, but the rest of the houses have no excuse. Staging can cost a pretty penny, but you can always get a partial stage of your house, or in most cases use your own items to stage your house. Here are some Bites to stage your house if you cannot afford a professional.

1. De-Clutter: This is the most important, at least get rid of all of the little things that go around your house. Pretend you are at IKEA. Don’t forget, buyers do go in your closets and drawers.

2. Take down all personal and family pictures: Its a psychological thing, if people are looking at you and your friends pictures of you partying on a Friday night, they are not looking at the house. Trust me they don’t. Then it becomes a why do you think they are selling the house game
